share your #FlyingWhileMuslim story

After visiting my maternal grandparents in Colombia for the first time since my one-year-old brother's birth, my mother, father, brother, and I were traveling back to NYC when my father, born in Pakistan but a U.S. citizen with an American passport, was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at JFK because his name was on a list the Agents had. Despite my family traveling together, the questions were directed at my father, badgering him about the purpose of the trip and why he was there. Finally, after twenty minutes of back and forth, they allowed us entry back home.
