IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MERCIFUL, THE COMPASSIONATE
Our purpose at MPower Change is to empower American Muslims to realize their faith values and translate it into local, state and national policies that safeguard the freedom to move, work, and be Muslim.
We achieve this through grassroots organizing, political education and training, mobilizing Muslim voters, and leading campaigns that impact Muslims.
An organization rooted in the Islamic faith, we mobilize online and in person on campaigns for racial, social, and economic justice.
Every chapter of the Qur’an begins with the names of God, Al Rahman (the Merciful) and Al Raheem (the Compassionate) and we strive to be living embodiments of mercy and compassion in this work. We believe in bringing mercy and compassion to make a future that is more fair, just, and merciful for all people.
MPower Change was co-founded by Linda Sarsour, Mark Crain, and Dustin Craun in 2016.
Back in 2014, they convened a national group of Muslim organizers and faith leaders to set a vision and fill a gap in the Muslim community across the country. Recognizing the opportunity for telling our stories and better national grassroots coordination, the solution was clear: a digital presence that would amplify our voices and serve as a tool for rapid response and mobilization on issues impacting our community.
