IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MERCIFUL, THE COMPASSIONATE

Our purpose at MPower Change is to empower American Muslims to realize their faith values and translate it into local, state and national policies that safeguard the freedom to move, work, and be Muslim. We achieve this through grassroots organizing, political education and training, mobilizing Muslim voters, and leading campaigns that impact Muslims.

Muslims have been in the Americas long before the founding of the United States.

For the last 120 years we have been deeply engaged in the political life of this country, led by our Black Muslim siblings, and our great spiritual luminaries. Malcolm X, Dr. Betty Shabazz, Imam Warith Deen Muhammad, Muhammad Ali and countless others who laid the groundwork for Muslims in the United States today. MPower Change builds on this legacy with deep intentionality and guided purpose.

An organization rooted in the Islamic faith, we mobilize online and in person on campaigns for racial, social, and economic justice.

Every chapter of the Qur’an begins with the names of God, Al Rahman (the Merciful) and Al Raheem (the Compassionate) and we strive to be living embodiments of mercy and compassion in this work. We believe in bringing mercy and compassion to make a future that is more fair, just, and merciful for all people.

Our campaigning mobilizes and engages Muslims on the issues impacting us all.

We work for racial justice, free and fair elections, tech accountability, immigration reform, combating surveillance, and putting a stop to endless wars.

MPower Change was co-founded by Linda Sarsour, Mark Crain, and Dustin Craun in 2016.

Back in 2014, they convened a national group of Muslim organizers and faith leaders to set a vision and fill a gap in the Muslim community across the country. Recognizing the opportunity for telling our stories and better national grassroots coordination, the solution was clear: a digital presence that would amplify our voices and serve as a tool for rapid response and mobilization on issues impacting our community.

We believe that the progressive political future of this country requires Muslims-led organizing.

We train and activate the political power of Muslim leaders, students, clergy and organizations through deep relationship building and resource distribution.
