Organizing Manager

Position: Organizing Manager for MPower Change, a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, Inc.

Reports to: Organizing Director

Type: Full Time

Salary: $78,000-82,000  (commensurate with experience) plus benefits

Expected Start Date: January 27, 2025

Location: Remote (candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S.)

About the position: We’re looking for a seasoned organizer, strategic thinker, and strong writer with the right mix of digital and relational skills to lead new campaigns, cultivate relationships across the Muslim community and the field and help manage a team. The ideal candidate will be someone who has 3-5 years of professional organizing experience and understands the landscape of progressive organizing and the Muslim community.


Successful candidates will:

  • Help oversee ​​a field program that amplifies MPower Change campaigns

  • Cultivate a network of active organizers and partners who can identify and pursue local campaign opportunities in partnership with MPower Change

  • Work closely and occasionally manage a team of organizers both junior staff and fellows

  • Work on campaigns with digital and offline components across one or more issue areas

  • Work an average of 40 hours/week, including some weekends and rapid response emergencies

  • Travel periodically for trainings, meetings, staff retreats, and other events


Basic responsibilities include:

  • Propose, plan, manage, and produce field actions and distributed events

  • Cultivate new and manage existing volunteer relationships and partnerships with allies in the field, by conducting consistent relational meetings, attending coalition meetings

  • Work with Organizing Director and Organizing team to outreach, recruit and build relationships with Muslim community stakeholders, individuals and organizations across the country

  • Support creating assets for existing and new campaigns (emails, social media content, outreach to turnout for offline and online actions, live stream events/webinars)

  • Creatively deploy MPower Change’s digital toolkit (Peer-2-Peer texting, Broadcast SMS, Tweetstorms, Action Kit, New/Mode, Action Network, Squarespace, VAN) to drive high-impact campaigns. 

  • Work with organizing team to create and strategize on issues of civic engagement, tackle Islamophobia, train Muslim leaders on technical and grassroots skills and strategies,, tech justice, immigration advocacy


Qualified candidates will:

  • Have 3+ years of prior organizing and training experience

  • Be an effective organizer and manager and be able to maintain relationships remotely

  • Pay attention to detail on messaging, visuals and relationships with individuals and partners

  • Be entrepreneurial—a self-starter with the ability to be creative and work quickly, and drive your own workflow and output in our virtual office

  • Previous online and/or community organizing experience is preferred

  • Have a strong grasp of blending digital and offline organizing tools for campaigns (social media, persuasive emails, content and core organizing skills)

  • Have a coherent racial and social justice analysis

  • Have experience with Muslim communities and the issues they are impacted by

  • Have a growth mindset – an approach of continuous learning (paid opportunities for professional growth and development will be offered)

The following skills are not prerequisites and can be learned on the job:

  • Basic graphic design skills

  • Basic video editing skills

  • Experience with ActionKit, Action Network, New Mode, Squarespace, VAN, GetThru and/or another digital campaigning platform

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
